 | Hard Floor cleaning |
|
|
Apart from: Carpet, Upholstery, General, End of tenancy cleaning services- We offer other service - polishing all types of hard floors:
- wood,
- marble,
- vinyl,
- linoleum,
- terrazzo,
- rubber.
These services we offer to residential market, offices, schools, theatres, restaurants, etc. Polishing brings back shine to your hard floors when it has become dull due to increased use.
Polishing is generally done once annually, but could be done more often depending of usage. The polish process does not remove scratches. Resurfacing would have to be done to remove scratches and heavy wear patterns.
The polishing process: We buff and polish the hard floor using a floor machine. A process is applied using pads and non-acidic chemicals that are used to enhance the shine and reduce minor surface scuffs. Absolutely no waxes are used which will discolour and peel after time.

| Reappearing Spots
Appearing upon drying or over several weeks later. - There are numerous causes but all originate from incomplete removal of stain or cleaning agent.
Reappearing as it dries
- Absorb out with a cloth over the area pre dampened with a spotter
- Use a surface action with the spotter on the cloth to remove stain from surface only and avoid bringing more to the surface and dry quickly using a hairdryer if a small area or an air mover
- Dampen area and apply diatomaceous earth ( Absorb a Stain) this will absorb out the stain into itself and act as a type of poultice drawing out the stain.
Reappears over a period – Sometimes caused by improperly formulated or rinsed spotter. The most common causes are sugary residues drinks etc., oily substances, syrupy residues, detergents which dry sticky or N.V.D.S.( Non Volatile Dry Solvents) improperly rinsed. Requirement is to disolve with an alkaline detergent to remove. N.V.D.S. residues are best removed with a volatile solvent used as a rinsing agent. These are always corrected by removing all the sticky substance and may require lots and lots of rinsing to be successful followed by a transfer medium ( cloth , absorbent powders etc..)
Wicking from large oily spills can occur from the backing – removal could involve surfactants, absorbent powders and the need to remove the underfelt and treat the under surface of the carpet.

| | Antique Rugs |
|
| Don"t let your antique rugs get ruined.
Follow our simple guidelines for their proper care, with tips and advice on how to clean and look after them. How many of us take the time to look at some of the wonderful hand-made rugs and carpets that we walk on? Have you ever turned over a rug or opened up the pile to examine the fine knotting used to make these pieces of textile art? The skill and time it takes to make these heirlooms should prompt us to follow a few guidelines that could extend their lives.
- Open fires and treasured floor coverings don"t mix.
- Direct sunlight may result in fading, so if your rug or carpet is in a sunny area, close the curtains at times of bright sunlight.
- Narrow diameter shoe heels (smaller than a two pence coin), no matter how high or low, cause a great deal of damage both to floors and carpets.
- Take care when moving rugs and carpets. There"s less chance of damaging the pile if you roll them up with the pile facing outwards.
- Adhesive shouldn"t be used with textiles. Glued patches do not help the stability of a piece and while underlays may be very useful, they shouldn"t have adhesive on them.
- Don"t use nails or staples to secure rugs or carpets either.
- Pets can inadvertantly do a great deal of damage.
- Claws cause damage to the pile and urine stains are difficult to remove (as well as attracting insects).
- Check during the spring and summer for signs of insect infestation.
- If a piece has signs of clothes" moths or carpet beetles, isolate it from other textiles and contact a textile conservator immediately.
Cleaning tips:
- When vacuuming your carpet or rug, don"t scrub but use a gentle action with a regular rather than a rotary head and work only in the direction of the pile.
- If there is a spill, put some layers of white paper towel or clean towels above and below the stain and try to absorb as much liquid as you can. Change the paper or cloths frequently until no more liquid is coming out. Leave some clean layers above and below in case more comes out as it is drying.
- Don"t lay anything heavy on the wet pile as it could crush it.
- Some rugs have had unethical treatments such as covering areas of lost pile with paint or felt-tip pins and these may run when in contact with liquids.
- If you see dye coming out contact a textile conservator immediately.
- Don"t use foam cleaners or other chemical cleaners. These are only suitable for your modern wall-to-wall.
- Don"t use remedies like salt, as this can cause more damage.
Further cleaning or repairs should be left to a conservator. from bbc.co.uk
| | Carpet Cleaning general information |
|
|
Most carpet care products are relatively safe to use, and have only a small impact on the environment. However, some of these products do contain toxic chemicals that are harmful both to the janitor who uses them and to people who occupy the building.
It is best to select the mildest products you can find that work effectively. Also, carpets that are cleaned less often require more and stronger chemicals that do carpets that are regularly maintained. It is a good strategy to set up a maintenance program that takes care of carpet needs throughout their useful life.
Using the wrong products or excess amounts of chemicals can easily damage carpets.
Therefore, a successful maintenance program will feature the products suited to the work, and will thoroughly train janitors in proper cleaning methods.
- Use mild products for regular daily cleaning.
- Use stronger products only for weekly deep cleaning.
- Avoid ingredients that are poisonous or that harm the environment.
- Wear protective gloves and goggles when or using any cleaning products.
A successful carpet care program begins before installation, and then continues with routine vacuuming, maintenance cleaning, and periodic restoration efforts.
Carpet Design & Installation Carpets are both functional and visually appealing. However, the wrong kind of carpet, or one that is poorly installed will require extra maintenance. Generally you should match the carpet type, texture, and underlayment to its working environment.
It is also important to keep carpets away from situations where water, chemicals, or other hard-to-clean materials are used. For example, locker rooms, kitchens, and copy centres are not good places to install carpet.
In addition, it s essential to consider how nearby, non-carpeted floors or walls will be cleaned. Chemicals used for that kind of maintenance can easily spill over and damage carpets.
Dust Prevention Preventing soil from entering a building in the first place means carpet cleaning can be less frequent, thereby reducing the amounts of chemicals used.
Large, frequently cleaned walk-on mats should be placed at each high-traffic building entrance. These mats should be large enough to capture several footsteps. Experiment with different sizes and textures to see what works best at each doorway. Every few days these mats will become full of soil. Therefore, it s important to vacuum all doorway mats frequently so that they will continue to capture soil before it is carried into the building.
Some modern buildings are totally enclosed. If possible, the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning system in such a building should be operated so that the air pressure just inside each doorway is higher than that of the natural air outdoors. Doing so will push airborne dust back outside.
| | NO CARPET TOO TOUGH |
|
| Many facilities that require durable flooring they make extensive use of short pile carpeting.
The traditional use of extraction machines to clean this is time consuming work that leaves areas wet for long periods. For feather light cleaning and the capability to dry in minutes, we are using the Duplex 420 scrubber dryer.
It cleans all floor surfaces, from carpets and entrance matting to all hard floors. Agitation from cylindrical brushes rotating at 600rpm means little or no chemical is required, creating savings in consumables and a more hygienic environment. Its unique offset brush system allows cleaning up to the edge and both forward and reverse operation - so no turning or lifting is required.

Steam and agitation combined cleans, sanitises and - for benefit in high traffic areas - dries in seconds. On carpets steam is excellent for revitalising fibres and removing stains. Although our carpets are ideal for our needs they have always been hard work to clean thoroughly.
Now the Duplex allows us to clean the large high traffic areas such as the dining rooms and corridors as well as the many residents’ rooms quickly and effectively.
